Is Sexual Sin Detrimental to Our Salvation?
Yes, sexual sin can destroy our lives physically, mentally, and spiritually. Yet, most importantly, it can bankrupt us from God’s presence – damn us to Hell.
Now, what is sexual sin? There is a whole gambit that falls under this sinful subject:
a) Fornication, b) Masturbation, c) Homosexuality, d) Pedophilia, e) Adultery, and f) Lust.
Many of you would have a problem putting masturbation, lust, and fornication under sexual sin. Today, in our denominations, Christians have given the ok over masturbation because it is not hurting anyone with the trappings of sexual desires and hangups. Those Christians don’t realize the spiritual component of sexual desires and behaviors. God gifts us the pleasures of sex through marriage so we can bond and bind with our spouse through our loving sexual acts. If we have sex upon ourselves, then we are bonded with ourselves without any need for a person of the opposite sex.
We can also sin further with images of different sexual partners within our minds or go to pornography if our mental images are not enough while masturbating. When the pornography is not doing it for you, then you will eventually find someone to have sex. This is the natural progression of non-Christian life. If you’re not married, then this leads to fornication. If you’re married, then this leads to adultery.
Oh, by the way, masturbation with sexual images in our mind and heart, as Jesus stated in Matthew 5:28, “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery’; but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” So, we already sinned even though we had no physical contact with another person. Overall, lust is present throughout these acts I mentioned.
Is there any hope for us when we enter this vicious cycle of lust, masturbation, adultery, and fornication? Yes, there is hope, and it is only through God in this manner – We need to confess our sins to God through Jesus Christ and then repent of the sexual sin we committed. We must lean upon Jesus Christ, His Word, and the Holy Spirit to live righteously. This will not be easy, and we will continually be tempted to commit those sinful acts.
As I stated in my previous blog, I have stumbled several times, but now I have turned the page from this sin and carried the flag of glory to write, scream out, preach, and teach the Good News, finally training others to speak the Truth. I have embedded a couple of YouTube videos to this blog page that may help you through your walk away from sexual sin, as well as links to various books you can purchase to help you further. Yet, most of all, read the Word, your Bible, to get instructions on how to live a righteous life in Him.
May God bless you in your journey with Jesus Christ.
